"Joy of Painting Student Exhibit "

May 13, 2011 - July 3, 2011

Although Bob Ross died in 1995, his "Joy of Painting" still lives on in workshops across the U.S. The Bob Ross Style Painting classes bring confidence, pride and joy to students who never dreamed they could paint. Athough not considered fine art, these classes encourage people to paint, to laugh, to feel a sense of accomplishment, to believe in themselves and to realize "you can do it."

Each student takes an individual approach to the painting they are producing, which allows for a tremendous array of variety and personality in the exhibit as a whole. Each piece speaks for itself in representing the wondrous world of art.

The paintings displayed in the gallery represent artwork from the last decade. Classes are offered three times a year from Bob Ross certified instructors, Sandy Seamone and TR Mathews. Sandy Seamone and TR Mathews have been Bob Ross painting instructors for over the past 20 years. They have taught classes at the Dane G Hansen Memorial Museum for over a decade. Based out of Arriba, Colorado, Sandy and TR travel to cities in Kansas such as Topeka, Manhattan, Deerfirld and Logan. Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming are also along their regular teaching route.

Along with teaching techniques, they strive to make the classes enjoyable and entertaining. At the end of a class, each proud painter has a finished work of art.
