Discover the dazzling beauty and light of beaded artwork. The colorful kaleidoscope of "Bead International 2006", will be on exhibit from June 27, 2008 to September 7, 2008. All approaches to beadwork are represented in the show's 54 pieces, from jewelry to sculpture and modern to traditional. The exhibiting artists come from all over the U.S., and many of the works will be available for purchase. The juror for this spectacular exhibit is distinguished editor of Ornament Magazine, Robert Lui, designating awards totaling $2000. Bead International is sponsored by the Dairy Barn Arts Center, with additional support provided by Byzantium, Columbus, OH; the Ohio Arts Council; Fed Ex Kinkos, Athens, OH; Diagnostic Hybrids, Athens, OH; the Athens County Convention and Visitor's Bureau; and the Citizen's Bank. The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio is work-renowned for its biennial Quilt National exhibition. Built in 1914, The Dairy Barn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features a 6500 square-foot gallery. Two of the structure's distinctive architectural elements are its slate roof and three cupolas. It sits on 36 acres of scenic pastoral land.
